Cruising Photo of the Week (Outtakes) #21

This week’s outtake from my book ‘Cruising the World, From Gondolas to Megaships’ is an alternate photo of the refurbished German-owned cruise ship MS Astor from Cruise & Maritime Voyages as it cruises below a farm overlooking the Storfjord in Norway.

Norway’s mountains, glaciers, and fjords are so visually stunning that many veteran cruisers consider it the most beautiful sea voyage on earth. Holland America, Costa, MSC, and Norwegian Cruise Line visit Norwegian ports on their Northern Europe cruises, while Hurtigruten’s fleet of expedition ships — which also serve as cargo-bearing lifelines for remote coastal villages — allow you to explore up to 34 ports up to and beyond the Arctic Circle, all the way to the Russian border.

Shore excursions in Norway might include kayaking through the fjords, hiking, viewing medieval churches, or possibly visiting a farm with a terrific scenic viewpoint overlooking a fjord.

NOTE: To make my coffee table book “Cruising the World – From Gondolas to Megaships” more affordable for holiday gift giving, I’m offering a 25% discount and free shipping for a limited time only.
